So... I just noticed...

I was doing some character writing for Raleigh. The it dawned on me: black-haired, Englishman, who is drunk a lot, a writer, is interested in the macabre (being a necromancer), wears black all the time, has a raven, and deals with a large amount of emotional problems… - I have unintentionally made Raleigh a giant, fat version of Edgar Allan Poe.

MY 8th GRADE ENGLISH TEACHER WOULD BE SO PROUD OF ME. I’M A-USIN’ MY EDUMACATION!

Outfits

I also made these a long time ago, and decided to post them up here.
IT’S OUTFIT TIME! :P

-Note on the Work Wear, it’s specifically Necromancer suits. I had the idea that when they would accompany Raleigh on Necromancy jobs (they’re like assistants. He also will take freelance non-necromancy jobs for side money… in which case they don’t need to wear the Necromancy suit), they would have to wear these suits. It’s basically protection from ectoplasm-poisoning.

And Alister hates winter. A lot.

Edgar likes to act like a Southern Gentleman, apparently.

Also, yeah… admittedly terrible height consistency on this one. :P
Raleigh detests formal wear. A lot.
On the sleep-wear drawing, he wraps up his bum leg. This is due to the fact that he has no feeling in that leg whatsoever, he bumps into stuff a lot. As a result, it’s probably full of terrifying bruises and injuries that he’s kind of embarrassed about anyone seeing.

Famoliors!

I wanted to draw some quick art of my characters and their familiars today.
Alister’s familiar is a Greater Mouse-Eared Bat. Also, whenever I draw Alister in some one-shot picture, I usually like drawing him in some stupid, contorted pose like this.

Edgar and his familiar Prospero the Rat. His familiar was originally going to be an owl, but I changed it when I realized that I simply like drawing rats much more.

And Raleigh, with his familiar Gruhama the raven. … and a companion flask.

AND with ALL THEIR FAMILIARS COMBINED… they make a bargain bin of cheap Halloween decorations which went on sale November 1st.

Race Design Sheets for Comic

Here are some race design sheets I made for my comic. Obviously some of these are just the basic fantasy races, and some of these are animal-people races I decided to make.

Elves.

Dwarves. My friends and I have decided that all Dwarves, both male and female, have beards. For a dwarf, having a beard isn't a male or female thing... it's just a dwarf thing.

Orcs

Gnomes... they are silly, frivolous people.

Halflings.

Goblins

These are hyena people. They were originally named Gnolls, like in D&D, but I changed the race's name to Kaftar.

Corvus, or crow people.

Felindas. They're more like cats with more ascended human intelligence, rather than anthropomorphic cat people.

Gurtogs, or dog people. Obviously Alister and Edgar are Gurtogs.

Toreans, which are more of a mostly-immortal (there is one very hard and specific way to kill them) magical beings that pretty much pull pranks on mortals, and other than that are pretty mysterious and enigmatic.

Suddenly, a comic page!

Just an impromptu comic page I did tonight to practice some elements of stylization that I may end up using in the comic. That’s about it. :I

WIZARDS COMIC. :O

I mentioned here, I will be working on a new comic, as described here- http://quaidezmaster.deviantart.com/journal/So-Comics-and-How-I-m-Annoying-About-Them-284823271
I will be posting work-in-progress stuff here. I’m still currently in planning stages.

It’s some fantasy setting. There’s a lot of magic involved. Some of the typical Tolkien-esque fantasy tropes may be in play and some may be subverted or I’ll try to put my own spin on them.

The very basic premise is that Edgar and Alister are out of WIZARDING SCHOOL (will think of a better name for it) and are live-in apprentices to Raleigh, a more experienced wizard.
Here are some quick character drawings….

-Alister’s outfit. Alister is an evoker, which is essentially the class of wizardry that shoots FIREBALLS, LIGHTNING AND ALL THAT COOL SHIT!

-Edgar is an illusionist. Thusly… he casts illusions.

-Raleigh is a Necromancer. I had the idea that in this world, Necromancers play more of a public health official role. They get rid of ghosts and send them to the afterlife. Ghosts aren’t allowed to linger in the mortal realm since their ectoplasm causes people around them to become ill.

Colored Sketches from my Printmaking Class

I took a printmaking class over the summer and I had to do some sketches for some screen-printing and wood-carving projects.
I just ended up scanning these in and doing a bit of coloring and texture experimentation in Photoshop CS3.

Here's one experiment I did with Photoshop textures. The design is based off of a sketch of a Black Shuck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Shuck) design I did for a silkscreen print.

Another black shuck design with Photoshop textures. I really personally love the textures on the background here.

Here's a planning design for a woodblock print I did of the Elephant Man.
